New Feature

About 2 weeks ago, I started a new feature here at Breeze on By....Random Photo of the Week. It's right over there in the sidebar>>>>>

Can't always guarantee it will be a great photo. But it will be random. If you missed last week's, you did not get to see how stunningly beautiful I am. Too bad for you!

My plan is to update the photos on Tuesdays.....

(Have I mentioned that I love my new digital camera???)

What's Happening?

*geez - I started this on Tuesday.....*

And now, it's Saturday morning. It's a beautiful day out there. I - am at the crap job. But we only have one hour left til we depart! And, it's been a very nice, uneventful morning here. Yeah!

This was supposed to be a quiet week. My teacher for my Wednesday & Thursday classes was out of town, so we did not have class! YooHoo! But, he made sure we didn't get bored by emailing us assignments for papers to write. Ugh. So, instead of sitting in class -- just sat in front of the computer and spewed forth brilliance.

Work was nutso this past week. Stinky receptionist gone, so I'm the backup receptionist. End of the biennium. Lots of crap involved there. Had to get raises (sweet!) processed for everybody - even me!! :o) And another person in the office was out Wed - Friday! Busy Busy!

I got my permanent crown on Wednesday. Which was good, cuz the temporary was a bugger! Anytime I bit down on it, it felt like I was biting tin foil. OWWW! It's still a little tender, but think it will be okay and hopefully, I won't need a root canal. icky.

Went out to see Tb last weekend. He held me hostage for 5 hours....the air conditioning was out in his unit, but it was very cool and comfy in the visiting room. He really does seem to be doing well. He got new glasses. He's done now with all his court dates. Now, he just has to wait to be moved. So we ate junk food, I kicked his butt playing Uno and we had a great visit. Funny how he likes me now. hmmmm.....

School has been going pretty good. I survived giving my first speech a few weeks ago. Monday, I have to do another one. This one is on "Culture and Diversity". whatever. I'm doing mine on Midsummer in Sweden. I'm not quite done yet, but think it will go well. I just have to make sure I can talk for 5 minutes. About that....cuz I know I can talk for 5 minutes.

And can you believe it? Mid-terms are just around the corner?!?!?

I watched the first disk of "The Lost Room" last weekend. Excellent! (hope the last disk doesn't disappoint!!) This weekend I have the first disk of "Eureka". I'm looking forward to it.

Last night I decided instead of sitting around doing nothing, I would get a jumpstart on my chores. My Pur water filter, which I love!, cracked. So, I took it off the faucet and tried to put the old aerator on. Sprays all over the kitchen. Crap. Gotta go buy a new one after work. I can't clean without a kitchen faucet!

Then think I'll go wash the car -- a bird decided to use the driver side window as a toilet. Looks lovely. And hopefully, get the sink fixed so I can clean.....fun times......

TPIR

Drew Carey has been named to replace Bob Barker on The Price is Right. I like this. I wonder if they will replace the "Barker's Beauties" with the cast of Whose Line is it Anyway? That would be so cool. I kinda have a thing for Ryan Stiles......

To Make a Short Story Long....

Today I was hoping to do a post that didn't involve food, but sorry, this one does.

Mondays I take an hour for lunch. Normally I work from 7:30 to 4 with 1/2 lunch break, but Mondays I have to stay until 5 to cover the front desk (and interact with the stinky receptionist). There is a park not too far from here that I like to go to to spend my hour lunch break. It gets me outside, away from people, gives me an opportunity to read or listen to music or just relax and watch clouds float by. BUT - It is hotter than a witches tit here today. It's 1:30 pm and 97 degrees, feels like 104. So, I decide it would be a good day to go somewhere with air conditioning.

I pick the Woodhouse. They make yummy burgers because they ground their own hamburger and some of the most kick ass potato salad on the planet. After enjoying my meal, I pick up my check, reach for my checkbook.....where is my checkbook??? Shit, I left it on my desk.

Dun Dund Da-DAh! So, I have to call Sanchez, luckily we live in a small enough town he can run over and rescue me. Otherwise, I'd probably still be there washing dishes.

Pizza Burger Flying Style

The most popular search that brings people to my blog is "Pizza Burger Flying Style." Here is a photo essay of my trip today to Big Boy for a Pizza Burger Flying Style. (Bonus - they are on sale right now for $1.19)

This is absolutely, for real the car that was in front of me. Time Warp perhaps????

Well, here it is. My lunch. Pizza Burger Flying Style, Fries with Gravy and in the cup holder....a small diet coke.

Up close and personal with the sandwich.....

This is where I either put some kind of smart ass remark about A Flock of Seagulls.... or Hitchcock's The Birds.

I also can't decide if they were creepier when they swarmed for the crust of bread or when they just watched and waited. (Sorry Tug - had to do it)

And finally, here is the lovely glob of pizza sauce that landed on my massive breasts. Thank gods for Tide Stick.

A Quiz AND a Cheeseburger!!

Found this little test over at Trish's place:

Your Score: Cheezburger cat

71% Affectionate, 53% Excitable, 77% Hungry

Sure, you deserve one. You helped popularized lolcats from a running gag to an online sensation. Now mainstream media writes asinine columns on this 'phenomenon', students write theses on the topic, programming languages adopt the grammar, and losers write tests about them on dating sites. Now take your cheezburger and never touch the internets again.

To see all possible results, checka dis.

Saturday of Yum!

Today I went to the Farmer's Market!

I got beets, potatoes, cabbage, onions, raspberries and a piece of fudge. (LOOK Mr. Farmer's Market Guy - the fudge DID make it out of the parking lot - so there!!)

Pigs in the blanket - right out of the oven- yummy!

Dinner - yep that's real butter on the beets!

And a lovely dessert - vanilla ice cream and raspberry sauce. Heavenly!

And yes, just like a little piggy - I am stuffed!!

200th Post

And they said it wouldn't last....

I suppose I should really post something profound. But since profound is not exactly my spe-she-al-uh-tee, I'll pick a few highlights.

Most commented on post that wasn't a Thursday Thirteen.

My favorite post is in a part one and part two format.

I'm having fun doing the blog - hope someone is enjoying reading it. Oh, wait - I do! Guess that is all that really matters! Here's to 200 more....

LockDOWN UPdate

The lockdown has been lifted. It was all about a fight. Tb was not involved. Whew! I'm relieved.

New Suit

Land's End is having a big sale. So, I ordered a new swimsuit. I'm pretty sure that the reason I'm not getting my fat ass out of bed in the morning and going to exercise is because my fat ass isn't completely covered in my current suit. Yea, that's it.

Hey Buddy, Wanna Buy a Missile Site?

At one time in our history, North Dakota was the third largest nuclear power in the world. Now, there is a push to raise $500,000 in order for North Dakota to turn an abandoned missile site into a state historic site.

I think it would be very cool to go visit a missile silo.

All About Ian

A co-worker of mine (from the crap-job) was in a car accident about two months ago. He is paralyzed from the hips down. His mother started a caring bridge site for him and just a few days ago, Ian has started doing the updates himself - it's good to hear it from his perspective. He is a really great kid, a kid who just had his 21st birthday. It just amazes me that he and Tb are so close in age. I keep feeling sorry for myself and Tb for his situation, but I'm so glad that he is where he is and not in the same situation as Ian. Check out his site - it's interesting to read and a great reminder to buckle up!

No Luck for Me

I took my "winnings" from my lottery tickets purchased on 7-7-07 and bought new tickets on Friday the 13th. *Big sigh* No winners....Bummer.

Other Blogs I Like to Read

A haiku tribute to some of my favorite bloggers:

We are going on
Thirty years of being friends
What more can I say?

Our Lord and Savior
Is just an e-mail away
Oh, and so is Stan

He’s the wittiest
Canadian-born ex-pat
Living in Sweden

Do you like to laugh
Poultry on a Post-It note
It will do the trick

A cute Texas Gal
Moved to Sweden to be with
Her King and Frodo

She says she’s nasty
She is quite the character
Makes me laugh out loud

Are you pussywhipped?
She is and it is rockin’
I may join the band

You are not alone
Is it help or is it art?
Always makes me think

Recently divorced
I live vicariously
Through her sex stories

The most eclectic
Person I’ve found on the web
I adore this gal!

I would do this guy
In a heart beat even though
Won’t ever happen

Just for Fun

My aunt sent me this today. I feel compelled to share it with the world.

LOCKDOWN!!

When I left for lunch today, I had a message from the Pen saying that visitation has been cancelled for the next three days because the prison is in lockdown status. Don't know why they are locked down, but sure hope Tb is okay. I'm going to believe that he is. The part of the prison he is in is for minimum risk offenders (the 'chos', murderers and hard felons aren't allowed in this part) - hopefully whatever has happened, happened in another part.

I was planning to visit him tonight and break my no fast-food rule by having a pizza-burger flying style on my way...hey - it's right next door.....But now will just go home, make a semi-healthy meal, watch the season premieres of Monk & Psych, do some knitting and go to bed. Wow - it just doesn't get more exciting than that!!

Judd Starr

I got a new cd a couple of weeks ago and reall like it. The first video from the album is number 35 on utube right now. You can catch it here.

Not only is it a good song, Judd's kind of a cutie, don't ya think?

New Project

I'm knitting a pink scarf - for a cause. My speech teacher is on a mission to reach out, one scarf at a time, to women who have been diagnosed with cancer. This is my kind of cause. I get to knit and hopefully make someone feel a little bit better.

The Bismarck Tribune did an article on this, you can read it here.

Just a Little Crush

Last night was the first night of Money and Banking class. We had a substitute teacher and I may be a bit infatuated.

Mr. T kept talking about issues from the 80's always preceded by "I know I'm the oldest one in the room". Uh, I don't think so....I finally had to say something. He's 34. I'm 46. Yep, I like this guy. He's subbing for my class tonight, too. Of course he's married!! - but arent' all the good ones???

I feel like such a hot young thing.... LOL!

Cha-Cha-Cha-Changes

I had to re-arrange my school schedule. I dropped my Operations Management class because there is just no freekin' way I can keep up with the homework she has for it! It's really not an unusual amount of homework for a 300 level course, it was just more than I can handle during the summer. Instead, I'm going to take Money and Banking which will meet for the first time tonight, so I'm not even behind. I know the teacher for this class - I doubt he will have as much homework, the book is about half the size and since my dad worked in banks for most of his adult life, I kinda have an idea of what's going on. If not, I'll just call him.

And, I got my teeth cleaned yesterday. Wow - that felt good. Next week, I get to go in for a crown. Yippee. Gotta love that. The pain, the money, the pain... oh, I already mentioned that.

This is the North Dakota State Capitol on the 4th of July. I am getting the hang of the new camera! I even bought a huge - well huge in capacity, but small in size - memory card and can now take over 6000 pictures. I don't think that will happen anytime soon....

7-7-07

Anybody get lucky? *wink*wink*nudge*nudge* I didn't. Not in that way at least....I did win the lottery though. Okay, I bought $8 in tickets and won $4. Now, should I cash it out and have a blast or just re-invest it?

WTF is wrong with blogger today? It won't let me make a title. argh.

Great Expectations, Chapter 3

I started this "series" a while back and have procrastinated with this part because I know it will be the hardest one to write. Why? Because it is about me. Just me and how I haven't lived up to my expectations.

There are a lot of shoulds in my life. I should be thin. I should exercise more. I should eat better. I should have more money in savings. I should have more money for retirement. I should have my college degree already. I should have someone to love. I should take a real vacation. I should be a better mother. I should have a nice house. I should have a neat, clean and tidy house. I should have a hobby. I should have more friends. I should work harder. I should take more time off from work. I should call my old friends. I should talk to my brothers. I should be more knowledgeable about current events. I should stop letting things bother me. I should stop worrying so much.

So, what am I going to do? Well, for starters, I have declared July to be a Fast Food-Free Month. I am not allowing myself any fast food, except Subway, because I can eat there without getting stupid. (If you own stock in Wendy's, you may want to sell) I have been a wee bit better about getting to the gym and have even taken a few walks. I bought, and actually ate, fresh fruits and vegies. After just 3.5 days of eating better, I actually feel better. My pants don't feel like a sausage casing and my mind seems clearer. Who knew? At the moment I'm not doing any kind of "diet", just trying to make smarter choices.

We are getting raises next month. I have taken half of my raise amount and am putting it in a 457 plan. It's not alot, but it's better than nothing. I gave my dad the paperwork he needs to take my 401K plans from my past two employers and put them together into one. And who knows, not eating fast-food for a month, may actually leave some extra cash in my account. It could happen.

Classes started again last night. I have speech this quarter and I'm terrified of speaking in front of people. I'm hoping this class will be a life-changing event. I promise I am going into it with a damn good attitude.

I do have to admit to you, dear reader, and especially to myself, that I do feel better than I did a few weeks ago. I don't feel as hopeless as I did. I do think that eventually, I will turn out okay.
