E Rocks!

My friend and awesome co-worker at the crap job, went to Sweden last month to attend her brother's wedding. Yes, I was most envious! She loved it and ... she brought me souvenirs! I got a really pretty fridge magnet with a picture of Old Town in Stockholm and a soccer key chain! E's boys are soccer players, so she's my favorite soccer mom! So cool! She says that we need to move there...she thought it was so beautiful and the people were so nice. Someday....

Pizza Burger Flying-Style

Since that is one of the most popular searches that brings people to my blog....seemed like a good title for today....oh, and I had one for lunch. Yummers. Gotta love the Big Boy!

Vacation was good. Very relaxing. My week of being a hermit was very good for me. I feel like a new person. This may just rate as one of the best vacations ever. And, I hardly left my house.

Here are some of the highlights:

aBought new walking shoes

aGot my textbooks for next quarter

aNew curtains in the living room

aClean oven!

aHome-made bread!

a2 DVDs of Battlestar Gallactica - More are coming, but not fast enough

aNo longer will have to work the 4:30 am shift at the part-time job

aClean fridge with fresh, edible food in it

aMoved spare tv from my room to Tb's - no more video games in my living room!

aFirst trip to Pizza Ranch - no need to hurry back

aChecked out Rachel Ray's talk show - it's pretty good

aLots of The Price is Right

aSlept. I actually feel rested.

It's all good.

Kt made me a couple of cd's for my roadtrip that didn't happen....but they got listened to anyway. Thanks Kt!

Tonight is our company picnic. I made beans. Bet my house smells really good right now. Should be fun, and hey, I get my de-stressed self out of the house, on a Friday.

Good weekend to all!

I'm a Dignitary! And Other Useless Information

Sunday, I accompanied kT to a potluck dinner that was a work-related function for her and just something to do for me. Well, she was introduced to the "crowd" and gave a really cool speech. Then there was some entertainment and the remaining dignitaries were introduces. Including me. Ha! I'm just here for the free lunch. Thanks.

I used to be a rock star. The other day I was looking around at ebay and found some 45 records from the mid-70's made by me! Did not know that there was actually someone with my same name that made records. Guess she wasn't good enough to hit the big time. But, the pics of the records make an awesome wallpaper for my computer!

I sold 3 textbooks on Amazon. I'd never done that before. I will do it again! I bought a new used textbook last week too, sure wish that would get here!

Movie Review

"Dance is a very powerful drug Mr. Keane. If embraced judiciously, it can exorcise demons, access deep seated emotions and color your life in joyous shades of brilliant magenta that you never knew existed. But, one must shoulder its challenges with intrepid countenance if one is ever to reap its rewards. "

This movie, Marilyn Hotchkiss' Ballroom Dancing & Charm School, is great! I haven't enjoyed a movie this much since, Elling. I tried to rate it 7 stars on Netflix, but they only go to 5. It is several stories all molded into one fascinating tale. Yep, you gotta see it!

And...it was played on my brand new DVD player that I got free from my Coke rewards. Tb was first to check out the player and he says: "It rocks!" And....he was right.

9/11 Tributes

I am so moved by all the 9/11 tributes that I've been reading this morning. When I first heard about it, I did think about doing it, but just couldn't see where I would find the time and the information I would need to write a proper tribute to someone I had never known. I looked at the list of people left to write about and Ann Nelson, from Stanley, North Dakota, was still available at that time. On Saturday night's CBS news, they ran this story about Ann. It's very touching.

Hats off to those who have participated in this wonderful tribute. I'm going to go get my work done so I can read more!

Speaking of....

Just finished reading Under and Alone by William Queen. Normally, not the kind of book I would read, but found out about the Mongols through someone special to me and since I had never ever heard of them, I had to google it. Holy crap! These are some badassmotherfuckers. Guns, drugs, murders, gangbangs, assaults.... I am just amazed that there are actually human beings who want to be this way, more amazed that women want to be with these creeps, and most amazed that they get away with the shit they do. My google today to find the link lead me to imdb.com, a movie is being made based on the book. Starring Mel Gibson. Scheduled to come out in 2008. I'll probably have to see it. Can I just say once again how much I love living in North Dakota?

Speaking of North Dakota.....The North Dakota quarter came about a week ago. Haven't seen one yet in circulation-and have been too lazy to actually go out and buy some.

Isn't that pretty!

Speaking of quarters....think I will do some laundry and housework this afternoon. I'm even going to make Tb get his lazy ass out of bed and help me. It's been awhile since we've had a "family fun day"!

Speaking of Tb....he got a new job yesterday. Still cooking, but at a different restaurant. Getting paid $1.25 more per hour than the last job. Good for him. He seems to be enjoying college, getting home at a decent hour....now a new job. And, I think he has a girl he likes.

Speaking of liking things....I bought a Pur water filter last weekend. And I don't just like it, I love it. We have pretty good water here, but there is alot of chlorine in it. Should have bought one long ago. Who knew water could be so tasteless?? I'm even enjoying my crystal light more.

Speaking of water....As bad as I feel that a human being was killed, I just don't get the whole Steve Irwin thing. I found him very irritating. And that time he nearly fed his baby to a crocodile. geez, what a schmoo. Okay. I wonder tho, if he hadn't pulled the barb out, could they have saved him? We learned in OSHA that you should never pull anything out once it is lodged --- get the victim medical care. Oh, and didn't we also learn that on Grey's Anatomy?

Speaking of saving things....I'm done. Saving you from reading more of my boring rant.

Friday Funny

MishMash

Last night, my friend D took me and another friend, B, out on the river on her pontoon. It was just an awesome evening. It was hot yesterday, 89 degrees, so it was perfect for sitting in the middle of the Big Mo. No wind, very few bugs, good friends, good puppy, beautiful scenery....perfect. D was still nervous about her driving abilility, but she did everything right. And, we got to "tour" the new bridge under construction...interesting indeed.

Last Sunday, Kt and I were rebels. We grilled, two days before the burn ban was lifted. It was so nice outside on The Deck. We didn't want to go in, but Big Brother was on at 7 and it's all my fault that she is addicted to the show. What a dilemma. Inside for the show? Outside for the great weather? How about a compromise? Ok - we took the tv out to The Deck. Ate our grilled Buffalo burgers and watched BB. It doesn't get much better than that....

If you read my other blog, you know that I'm trying to give up Diet Coke. I'm doing really well...so far. This week I have had only two 20 oz bottles, one on Tuesday and one today....other than that, just one 12 ouncer the other 3 days. And the ones in my fridge....just about gone. So far, no headaches and today was the only time I have really, really wanted that 20 ouncer and gave in. I'm so easy, but---I did forget to grab one from the fridge, so was able to justify it.

Next week, final tests! Then two weeks off from school during which I will be taking 6 1/2 consecutive days off from work. Yippee! I have my school schedule for next quarter...I'm upping the class load from 2 to 3. ZOICKS! Monday's I'll have a history class - Pop culture and Social change, Tuesday's - Compensation and Benefits and Thursday's - introduction to Microcomputers. I think these will be good classes for me to make the transition to 3 classes. I'm pretty hip and with it and up on Pop Culture. I already work in payroll so I have a pretty good base knowledge for Comp & Ben. The computer class covers Excel (I use that everyday), Word (I use Word perfect mostly, but have used Word in the past), Access (I have used that with already established databases - so looking forward to learning how to make my own) and Power Point - time for this old techno-phobe to learn it.

Speaking of that....Tb has the computer up and running at home. I've played 2 games of freecell on it. He set up our user profiles. My password is themaid. What a shit.

And the biggest, bestest news of all!?!?! Tug and I are getting together in just 2 weeks! The Black Hills of South Dakota hasn't seen anything like this since the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally!! Can't wait to see her - The last time we were together was at another friend's wedding about 11 years ago? (I think it was '95? Tug??) WOOO HOOOOO!
